Dean's Freshman Research & Creative Scholars Program

Each spring semester the MPC hosts first year interns from the College of Liberal Arts as part of the Dean's Freshman Research & Creative Scholars Program. Through this program, MPC faculty and research staff members mentor second semester first year students on substantive or data infrastructure research projects for 6-10 hours per week. CLA covers the student stipends and mentors provide the time to train and supervise them. In most cases, it a great experience for the students and the mentors. Some projects have taken just one intern, others have taken several.  Although projects are not obligated to keep students on after the semester, MPC has a long history of keeping interns on in paid capacities well beyond the internship because they do such good work.
