Professor Holm is one of the leading geographers involved in regional spatial modeling in Sweden and Europe, basing his models on a combination of demographic and spatial data. Research interests include the development of methods for agent based modeling, location analysis, spatial interaction modeling, time-geography, mobility analysis and socio-environmental interactions. His research has been applied within population geography, economic geography, regional development and the geography of the environment. Since 1998, Holm has devoted a large fraction of his work to the building up of the longitudinal database ASTRID and the simulation model tools SVERIGE, Lisa and Svesim. Holm is author of more than 40 professional publications including the 2002 publication, Spatial Microsimulation Models. In Sanders, L. Models in Spatial Analysis.
