Abstract:  World wide, millions of children work at tasks or in conditions that may be injurious to their health and long-term development.  There are an estimated 320 million working children, almost 150 of whom engage in hazardous work.  Since the late 1990s, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and other international bodies have focused their efforts on the most egregious forms of child labor.  This talk will provide a background on the impact of public health on the welfare and development of children.  It will also present an overview of child labor photographs taken by David Parker over the last 15 years.  These images are the most comprehensive visual depiction of child labor since the work of Lewis Hine, almost 100 years ago.
