Data Integration Core

What we do

The Data Integration Core specializes in harmonization processes and metadata creation so that variables from multiple datasets may be readily subject to comparisons across time and space.

Activities of the core include:

  • Creating harmonized variable codes
  • Data cleaning to eliminate duplicate records
  • Developing internal consistency checks to maximize data integrity
  • Implementing allocation procedures to impute values for missing or inconsistent data items
  • Creating constructed variables to simplify data analysis

Who we are

The Data Integration Core is staffed by a team of researchers from the IPUMS-International and Integrated Health Interview Series (IHIS) projects under the direction of Core Director, Matt Sobek.
